The Modified Edge Labiaplasty
Dr. Oppenheimer now most commonly employs the Modified Edge Labiaplasty, a procedure that combines the EDGE and WEDGE techniques for a "best of both worlds" approach to reduction of the labia minora and clitoral hood.
First, Dr. Oppenheimer uses topical numbing cream and oral or IV sedation to help make the local anesthetic injections as painless as possible. Then, he begins by reducing the clitoral hood: the excess tissues on each side of the labia.
The next step in Dr. Oppenheimer's modified edge labiaplasty is reducing the labia minora... one side at a time.
The final result in the operating room is a "braided" appearance to the labia minora (all stitching is internal) which resolves over the next three weeks to a smooth appearance.
But the labia minora are "tucked in" immediately after the surgery to achieve the goal look of a labiaplasty.
